BayFest Music Festival at Downtown Mobile, Alabama Gulf Coast

Alabamas largest music festival will celebrate its 19th anniversary on October 4-6, 2013 with an expected crowd of more than 200,000 guests, who will make merry in the streets of Downtown Mobile and see over 125 live musical acts on nine stages during the weekend.

Having grown substantially from a debut crowd of 50,000 in 1995, BayFest has become known for its vast array of renowned musical talent that appeals to a wide variety of audiences and is suitable for the entire family. Past performers at BayFest include: Luke Bryan, Kid Rock, Duran Duran, Kenny Chesney, Mary J. Blige, Motley Crue, B.B. King, Stone Temple Pilots, Lady Antebellum, Reba, Nelly, Bush, Blake Shelton, Al Green, Alan Jackson and many, many more!

BayFest offers continuous music for every taste, including country, classic rock, alternative, pop, jazz, R&B, rap, gospel, modern rock and more. One of the festival's stages, the Launching Pad, is specifically designed to spotlight local and regional talent and showcase acts who aspire for musical greatness.

The Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center presents Giant Insects : Alabama Coast

Giant Insects will feature six oversized animatronic bugs, three giant mechanical insect heads, an insect art gallery and a live insect zoo. The exhibit will give visitors an up-close and personal look at some of life's tiniest creatures including a Chinese Praying Mantis, a Swallowtail Butterfly Caterpillar, two Rhinoceros Beetles, a Desert Locust and a Stick Insect. The robotic bugs in Giant Insects move mechanically to show their behaviors, such as the locust spreading its wings to take flight. A live bug zoo will also be featured in the exhibition, allowing guests to see the critters at their regular size. There will also be photo opportunities and many other hands-on games and activities including live insect eating contests to win prizes.

Sales open on Friday with the show open to the public after judging on Saturday. Plants offered by vendors will include unique and hard to find plants.
