David Walter of Reefmaker and Walter Marine in Orange Beach says the new retired ship he has acquired, the Kinta S, will leave from Fort Morgan at 6 a.m. Sunday and pass under the Alabama 59 bridge in Gulf Shores between 9-10 a.m.
On Memorial Day weekend Walter’s company sank the 271-foot LuLu about 18 miles offshore. The Gulf Coast Reef and Restoration Foundation raised $500,000 for that project with the name sponsor, Mac McAleer, donating $250,000.
The ship was built in Japan in 1976. Its primary uses were for trading here along the Gulf of Mexico and the U.S. East Coast to the Caribbean, South And Central America...
