The course is on the same lot as the Orange Beach Dog Park, next to the Pleasure Island Tiki Bar. The south end of the course features clear views of the bridge over Perdido Pass and the Caribe condo buildings across the water.
The course is short by most disc golf standards, with the longest hole (No. 7) only 270 feet from tee box to basket. Only two other holes on the course are 200 feet or more. The shortest hole (No. 4) stretches only 130 feet, but entices players to throw over the waters of Terry Cove.
The course does have enough trees to make things interesting and to provide some shade on hot summer days. Most people play the course twice to make it a full round of 18. With its short length, the course is ideal for newcomers to disc golf or younger players, but there are enough tricky shots to keep veterans on their toes. Most players can probably get through the course with just a putter and a mid-range disc, although some may want to use a driver on 7.
The Orange Beach Disc Golf Club holds organized play every Sunday and Monday with a "bag tag" tournament.
The bag tags are a way to add competitive flavor to regular participants. During bag tag events, or games between club members, each player puts his or her tag up for grabs at the beginning of the round. The best score at the end gets the lowest-numbered tag and on down the line.
